“Spring cleaning” and “detox smoothies” have become so trendy that even our phones auto-complete these terms when we begin typing the first few characters. We all know what spring cleaning is but today we’re talking detox, so let’s jump into that. A lot of people understand detox to be a popular marketing buzzword in relation to weight loss and diets. In actual fact, a detox, short for detoxification, means to remove toxins from your body, and it should be a process we should do regularly (not just in the springtime!) in order to maintain good health.

    What are we actually detoxing?

Everyday, we are exposed to toxins, that can either come from the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, or the products we consume or apply to our bodies.

A traditional detox cleanse is not easy to do, because of its very-restricting rules on what you can have - or, to be more fair, what you can NOT have.

All hope is not lost! There are still ways you can reduce the amount of toxins you’re exposed to, such as drinking plenty of water, doing some exercise every day and opting for organic food when grocery shopping. To add a little extra-detox to your daily diet, you can also prepare a smoothie rich in detoxifying nutrients. Today’s green smoothie recipe will help you do just that:)

    Ingredients to heal your body

Our smoothie recipe contains cilantro, which is packed with antioxidants; cayenne pepper that contains therapeutic compounds that are likely to reduce inflammation and boost your metabolism; avocado, that not only contains more potassium than bananas, but is also the fattiest food plant that contains monounsaturated acids such as oleic acid.

    Why add Marine Collagen?

Collagen is one of the most important bodily constituents, since it accounts for 1/3 of the entire protein supply of the human body. Adding an all-natural and bioavailable source of collagen to your diet helps to keep you feeling fuller for longer and can assist in weight loss. Moreover, 80% of your skin is composed of collagen, which means that elasticity and flexibility can improve significantly when you take it daily.

If you’re big on working out and cardio, adding a scoop of collagen to your detox smoothie after exercise will help your muscles to recover faster and restore the nutrients depleted during the exercise.
