Why marine collagen?

Pure collagen protein from wild-caught fish

Amandean Marine Collagen Peptides are sourced 100% from wild-caught fish in the pristine waters of the North Atlantic. Unflavored, easy to mix, and enzymatically processed to keep the peptides intact. Non-GMO, single ingredient from a transparent and sustainable source.

A graceful aging superfood

Packed with natural glycine, known as the “anti-aging amino”, supports smooth clear skin, strong nails, and full shiny hair. Help clear up skin problems with natural nutrition. Collagen protein has similar benefits as bone broth.*

Boost collagen levels from the inside-out

We need a collagen supplement to replace that which is lost as we age. After 30, our collagen levels start to drop by 1.5% per year. A gut friendly protein that supports a healthy metabolism, muscles, joints, bones, ligaments, cartilage.*

A single, clean, non-GMO ingredient

Beware of collagen hydrolysate made from farm raised fish that are packed full of hormones and antibiotics. Our fish collagen is hydrolyzed to a low 3000 Dalton molecular weight for maximum bioavailability. 11g of pure collagen protein in each individual packet.

Fuel your workouts. Heal your body. Look your best. 100% pure fish collagen with NO sugar, gluten, soy, fat, or carbs. A great alternative to beef collagen or whey protein for individuals on high-protein diets.

Proline helps tighten skin, repair connective tissue, and supports healthy arterial function.

How do you use it?

Directions for use

Add single-serving packet (11g) to your daily coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, smoothie, or even glass of water. Marine collagen won’t gel in cold liquids like gelatin will. Solubility is best when the liquid is added to the powder due to its low molecular weight. It is best taken with a source of vitamin C, as it will provide for maximum absorption in the body.

What is collagen, exactly?

Collagen is a protein found everywhere in our bodies, making up over 60% of our total protein. Collagen protein contains 18 amino acids, including proline, arginine, glycine and hydroxyproline. These promote rebuilding, rejuvenation and growth in: Skin, Muscles, Hair, Joints, Nails, Hearts, Liver, Prostate, Blood, Cells and Lungs.

Unfortunately our body’s collagen production drops off as we grow older. By age 40, our collagen depletes faster than it is produced, and by age 60 we only produce 50% of the collagen we did at age 30. That’s a significant decrease.

How do I take Amandean collagen?

Collagen peptides dissolve into liquids, meaning it can be mixed into smoothies, soups or even some baked goods. Collagen is tasteless, so your meal will be as edible as it was before.

How is Amandean collagen produced?

Our collagen is sourced from 100% pasture raised grass fed South American cows. It is non-GMO, contains no gluten, wheat, corn, eggs, dairy, soy, or yeast. We rigorously tested for purity and packaged in the USA at a state of the art FDA-cGMP compliant facility.

Is Amandean Collagen Natural and Free of Contaminants?

YES. Our hydrolyzed collagen is 100% all-natural collagen and free of pesticides, hormones, chemicals and contaminants. Amandean collagen contains no additives.

Is BSE a concern with your Bovine Collagen Peptides?

BSE, popularly referred to as Mad Cow Disease, has been in the news recently and prompted many collagen fans to worry about the susceptibility of their products.

The bottom line: The US Animal and Plant Health inspection Service (APHIS) ensures that all animal products imported into the USA satisfy their unyielding health standards, without any health risks, following the guidelines put forth by the Organization for Animal Health (OIE). The OIE conducted a comprehensive study on BSE and its affects on bovine products like collagen and gelatin. The study revealed that there is near zero risk of BSE transmission in food products such as milk, gelatin, and other hide based or boneless originated products.

In addition, the March 16th 2012 US Department of Agriculture report states that the manufacturing process of Gelatin and Collagen further decreases the risk of BSE infection beyond the conclusions of the OIE.

What is the molecular weight?

5000 Daltons for Bovine Collagen Peptides

What does pasture raised mean?

From birth, our cattle are raised on lush grasslands, giving them space, areas to graze and freedom to roam. Stress-free cows means a better product.

What countries do the cattle come from?

From South America, including Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. With abundant open pastures, these countries favor grass-fed grazing for their cattle. We select the best of these farms and source our bovine hides from there.

Are Amandean’s collagen peptides hydrolyzed using heat or are they enzymatically processed?

They are enzymatically processed, which is the best way to keep the health benefits intact.

Can I take collagen with other prescriptions or medications?

We recommend that you consult your Doctor before mixing any or our products with your current prescriptions or medications.

Can my children take collagen?

We highly recommend that you talk with your pediatrician before introducing your children to collagen, as each child’s nutritional needs will differ.

How do collagen peptides differ from gelatin?

Collagen peptides dissolve in hot or cold liquid, whereas gelatin can only mix in hot liquids but will return to its gel state once the liquid cools. In a health context they are very similar, although the shorter amino acid chains in collagen peptides are a little easier to absorb for our bodies.

How should I store collagen?

It is recommended to store in a cool, dark area away from moisture.

I am new to collagen, which product should I start with?

Each of our collagen products offer different applications, which you should consider before making a purchase:

Beef Gelatin is ideal for cooking & baking as it blooms in hot liquids and can be used for soups, broths, and baking.

Marine Collagen & Collagen Peptides are both cold & hot-water soluble and are easy to mix in coffee, smoothies, and juices.

Although the benefits of our collagen products are similiar, beef gelatin has longer protein chains which can travel further down the intestinal tract before being absorbed, therefore having a greater effect on gut health.

What is the difference between Beef Collagen & Marine Collagen?

The difference is the animal source of the protien. Amandean's Collagen Peptides and Beef Gelatin contain collagen protein found in grass-fed cows. It's almost identical to the kind of collagen we have in our bodies, which is what makes it such a popular and effective dietary supplement.

Marine Collagen is derived from the skins of wild-caught Atlantic fish and offer the similiar health benefits as collagen from cows. Marine Collagen has shown to have up to 150% more bioavailability in humans making it a popular choice as a supplement.

What's the difference between multi-collagen & regular collagen?

Once collagen is hydrolyzed (broken down into short chain amino acids, aka peptides), it is very difficult to actually tell the different types of collagen apart. The way that a collagen supplements work, is that some of the amino acids trigger a response in your body to start producing more collagen, so it’s not like you are just replacing lost collagen directly from taking the supplement itself. The main thing about the multi-collagens are in the sources of where the collagen is derived from (marine, bovine, porcine, poultry cartilage, egg shell membranes, etc.). These are different types of collagen to start with, but once it’s processed into a collagen supplement (powder, peptides, protein, hydrolysate, they are all the same), it’s really about impossible to tell the different types apart. They all contain the same 18 amino acids (albeit in slightly different ratios), so it doesn’t make that much difference, as it’s the amino acids that are prompting your body to produce more collagen.

The downsides of using a multi-collagen are that the sources of the ingredients, especially when sourced from chicken are often from China or India. Often the fish portion comes from farm-raised tilapia. Amandean is committed to the cleanest and most sustainably-sourced ingredients so for this reason, we have stuck with single-sourced collagen peptides from marine & bovine sources. The other downside to multi-collagen is that they have a reputation for being unpleasant in taste and therefore less appealing than a normal collagen supplement.

Do you perform testing on your products?

All our Amandean products are rigorously tested for quality and purity in the USA in registered facilities. We adhere to cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices).

When do products expire?

Most of our products have a 4-5-year shelf-life. Best by dates are printed clearly on the bottom of each product container.

Are Amandean Products Vegan?

None of our collagen products are vegan as they are sourced from beef or fish. As of right now, we have yet to find a known source of vegan collagen. Our Boswellia Serrata Extract is Vegan-friendly.

We go far & wide to selectively-source the best ingredients on the planet.

Amandean marine collagen is selectively-sourced from the skins of wild-caught fish from the pristine waters of the North Atlantic ocean. The raw materials are obtained from fishermen in Iceland that help to promote eco-friendly fishing practices.

The collagen is made at a plant in Canada that only manufactures fish collagen & gelatin. Our final product is packaged and lab-tested under cGMP standards right here in the USA.

"Marine collagen is far superior"

“My fiancee and I like to put this in our morning smoothies before the gym. The lady has chronic pain and strength training (weights) tends to result in extreme soreness. This product has considerably lessened the severity of her post workout recovery. All this and I didn’t even need to touch on the main reason we all take this (hair, nails, skin).
No brainer - you need this in your life.”

"Helps prevent bruises"

"I’m 90 years old, and have been bruising very easily. My daughter recommended this to keep the bruising down. After several weeks I notice that my bruises are less frequent, and heal more quickly. What I didn’t expect was that my finger nails are not splitting and they are growing faster. I’ll keep using it — I put in on my morning dry cereal along with some raisins and molasses."

-O. S., Amazon Customer

"Quality product"

“Have been taking one scoop in a cup of coffee every day for two weeks. I have seen a definite improvement in my skin and nails — skin is softer and my nails are not as brittle and the color has evened out with no more lines running through them. What I like most about the product is it is flavorless and odorless . I put a scoop in my cup of coffee in the morning. It has no texture or gritty feel in your mouth. Nice to have such a pleasant and easy product to consume as an alternative to another pill.”
